How can victory truly be won,
after the war has been done.
How can we be satisfied,
when millions of people have just died.
by Jude

Remember
Remembering those who died for us
At this time 75 years ago
A time like today, with families and love
But going through more than we could ever know

VE Day - it's victory! And great...
Let’s try to remember how lucky we are
Raise a glass and fall silent before it's late
And tonight imagine the heroes are stars

Our war heroes were brave, and thought not of themselves
And now we are here because of what they gave
So let's raise a glass and sing along
To honour the memories of the brave!

VE Day - Friday 8th of May 2020

V.E. day poems followed by 8 photos. Thanks to everyone for all their effort.

The bunting was hung with care and joy
Out on the streets were the girls and the boys
It was time to celebrate peace at last
It was time to think of those in the past
Picnics were laid with wonderful food
Everyone was in a brilliant mood.

A Haiku
The war was ruthless and deadly.
And some may never forget.
But in the end victory was ours.

Trenches, Beaches, Metres
First, bogged down in Flanders
Second, defending our borders
Today we fight an invisible enemy
In hospitals, care homes and community

We feed on the spirit of 45
Together, but separated to stay alive
How it all turns out we are still to see
But one day we will have our victory
