Ashton Court

Bower Ashton runs up to the ha-ha just below Ashton Court Mansion. Ashton Court locations in Bower Ashton include Smyth Field, the Ice House & surrounding Ice House Plantation and parts of the red deer park.

The main entrance to Ashton Court is accessed from Kennel Lodge Road, it leads to the Mansion car park, it can get very busy.

 

Ashton Park School & Sports Centre

The school main entrance is on Blackmoors Lane, BS3 2JL. With the schools emergency access on Parklands Road.

Blackmoors Lane is heavily congested with school traffic at certain times, particularly when the school finishes in the afternoons, usually between 3:00 to 3:30pm.

Ashton Park School was built in the 1950's in the grounds of Ashton Court Estate, with a major section of the school re-built in 2010.

The gatehouse photo shows what was previously the main entrance to Ashton Court from Bristol. Its now in the school grounds and is the inspiration for the school logo.

 Ashton Park Sports Centre The gatehouse has had many name including the Town Gate or the Lower Lodge. Its now known as Ashton Gatehouse and outside of school hours is available for private hire.

Restored in 2016, what was the Lower Lodge of Ashton Court Estate is a Grade II listed building. Its now been renamed Ashton Gatehouse, it is accessed from Ashton Park School on Blackmoors Lane.

Its used for teaching in normal school hours but outside of school hours it is available for private hire. See the enquiry form on the website below. The main area on the 1st floor has a maximum capacity of about 24.

Bedminster Cricket Club (BCC)

Bedminster Cricket Club pavillion and playing grounds on Clanage Road, BS3 2JX.

The club has been on Clanage Road for over 100 years. But BCC has a even longer history going back to 1847 - including Dr. W.G. Grace in the 1870's playing for them.

The pavillion is also available for public hire.

City Mazes

Based in an old pavilion on Clanage Road, City Mazes, Bristol is the venue for an escape maze game.

Its open on all afternoons and accessed from Clanage Road, follow the turn off for Teddies Nursery. See the website for a map, opening times and other details.

Teddies Nursery

Bright Horizons - Day Nursery and Preschool, on Clanage Road. The building is the old pavilion of Bedminster Cricket Club.

Wood Yard

Bower Ashton Woodyard is the home of the Forest of Avon Wood Products Co-operative. Based in the grade II listed Park Farm building.

UWE

The Bower Ashton campus of the University of the West of England (UWE) is the Department of Art and Design, part of the UWE's Faculty of Creative Arts, Humanities and Education.

The campus is on the edge of Bower Ashton accessed via Kennel Lodge Road. With buildings on the Kennel Lodge Road side overlooking the red deer enclosure of Ashton Court Estate.
